Oh, I'm intrigued by Margery Kempe (giving Mariette in Ecstasy and Matrix vibes?). Finally getting to the big 2024 reads, including Percival Everett's James, which is outstanding. Happy New Year!
I doubt I'll ever be able to take one of your seminars, so I follow what you're reading. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on those books. And I'm thrilled that you'll be posting more craft content! Are you open to suggested topics?
What a superb end-of-year post, M! Thank you for this and wow those reviews! TBR pile is tottering already....
My fave read of the year was McCarthy's "Stella Maris". *genuflect* Read that early on after finishing 2023 with "Passenger". My mind is still reeling, and I think I drained my tear ducts with the set. If I was going to pen a review, my focus would be on the set being McCarthy's homage to Faulkner's "The Sound and the Fury".
Also discovered spec-fic master, Angela Slatter! Recommend starting with "Sourdough & Other Stories". Queen of interwoven plotting.
Thank you Matt for moderating our Changing Hands event! Hand to god I admire your literary citizenship and hope to model it someday.
And Twitter may be gone for me but the legacy of Lucy Sky lives on!
Haha, what a weird brain break typo! Fixed!
I laughed!
Added several of these to my TBR. Matt, I appreciate your genuine love of the word and generous support of fellow writers. This post shines with both.
